2022 Dallas Open2022 Dallas Indoor Open – I'm not entirely sure we can make the connection to a onetime tournament played 39 years ago. That was held outdoor, this is indoor and on a new complex. Is having the city in common enough to make such 39-yrs-leap? 79.40.90.238 (talk) 15:08, 4 February 2022 (UTC) ==[reply]

To clarify, i'm not saying the name of the current tournament is wrong. I'm saying it is wrongly linked to a tournament played 39 yrs ago with the same name, onetime and on outdoor court. As stated above this is really a licensed tournament transferred from New York (where it was named for 4 years as the New York Open). In the main page we have both, on one side the replacement of New York Open, on the other a reference to the old Dallas Open. And that's fine as historical connection and point of view. But then on the 2022 Dallas Open page we have a clear link to the 1983 tournament, which i believe is wrong. In order to differentiate the two i then proposed a new title for the current tournament. 79.40.90.238 (talk) 22:00, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But you've requested a move to a different title, which is incorrect. You can go ahead and change the links in the article if you think it links to the incorrect parent tournament but an article title change isn't the correct way to do that. Adamtt9 (talk) 23:20, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've went ahead and changed the links on the article so that they should represent the correct tournament. Adamtt9 (talk) 23:23, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i proposed the change of title because i thought it needed to be separated from the other Dallas Open. If i search "Dallas Open" i found a disambiguation 'step 1' with the golf tournament, and a disambiguation 'step 2'between Dallas Open (1983) and Dallas Open (2022), and finally a potentially confusing title for the tournament Dallas Open (2022) and current edition 2022 Dallas Open. I thought of a way to resolve this issue and the incorrect citation of 1983 tournament which descended from it.
After your modifications, even if i feel sort of uncomfortable with the omission that this is the New York Open transferred to another city and should be linked in the previous editions, i feel relieved the 1983 tournament is not carried along anymore. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.40.90.238 (talk) 11:12, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
